3-Bullet Sunday (Sea Limited: Garena, The Berkshire of Software, Suffering is Optional)
Dear friends,
There’s no easy way to ease into this—my grandfather has passed away this week due to COVID-19.
It made me reflect on the fragility of human life. Last week he was alright and this week he’s gone.
Cliché, I know.
Perhaps, I will write about my reflection when things have settled down.
I. Sea Limited: Garena [paywall removed]
I have removed the paywall for Garena’s research report due to popular demand.
It garnered more than 100,000 views over the weekend I published it before I paywalled the article.
I don’t know when I will put it back on paywall, so do check it out and share it with whoever may be interested before that happens.
If you enjoyed the research report, do consider becoming a member to unlock my entire archive. Past companies covered include Twilio, Facebook, Crowdstrike and more.

II. The Berkshire of Software
Mark Leonard is one of the most underrated capital allocators out there.
Constellation Software is like Berkshire, but they acquire software companies predominantly.
For those of you who invest in software, Max lays out Mark Leonard’s playbook on software companies in this thread (click to read on) 👇
III. Pain Is Mandatory. Suffering Is Optional.
My favourite lines from this article:
“In contrast, suffering is a consequence of how we view our pain. Suffering can magnify pain, making it worse and more intense.”
“We choose to suffer when we strive for permanence in a fleeting and transient existence.”
“We choose to suffer when we cling to control and refuse to accept limits on our agency.”
