3-Bullet Sunday (Alibaba report, Meta, top hedgefund letters, & Dr Daniel Siegel)
Dear friends,
In lieu of the upcoming Singles Day (11.11) sales in China, my next research report for members will be none other than the largest e-commerce company in the world by GMV: Alibaba!
It’s no secret that several Superinvestors have been acquiring Alibaba on the pullback and notable ones include Charlie Munger, Thomas Russo, Bill Miller, Tweedy Browne, Polen Capital Management, Mohnish Pabrai and Guy Spier.
In this report, I will go through in detail what these Superinvestors see in Alibaba:
Why is Alibaba irreplaceable for commerce in China?
Alibaba’s important role in the global supply chain. Yes, you may be buying from Alibaba without knowing it.
China’s regulations on its e-commerce platforms & Ant Financial and how does this impacts Alibaba's operations.
Alibaba’s latest growth engine, the cloud.
And of course, I will discuss the risks and valuation of Alibaba.
Gain access to the research report by becoming a member today!
You’ll also gain access to past research on companies such as Twilio, Sea Limited, Facebook (or Meta), and more.

III. Hand Model of The Brain
Dr Daniel Siegel is a world-renowned neuroscientist and professor.
He developed The Hand Model of the brand which incorporates both attachment theory and the neuroscience of mindfulness.
The closed fist on the right represents the regulated brain—where we make our most effective decisions—with the amygdala, pre-frontal cortex and brain stem connected.
When we are aroused (i.e. angry or anxious)—we ‘flip our lids’—refer to the hand on the left, where the fingers are raised and our pre-frontal cortex and amygdala disconnect.
Now your pre-frontal cortex is your logical brain and your amygdala is your emotional one. When it’s flipped open, that’s where your emotional self takes control and we end up saying or doing things we later regret.
In situations like these, we can bring the lid back down with:
Breathing exercises (check out Pranayama or just take long deep breaths)
Identify and name the emotion
Journalling
Hope this helps!
Till next week,
Thomas Chua
